ABOUT ME
I’ve been involved in strength training and powerlifting for almost 10 years - first as an athlete, and then as a coach. I began competing in powerlifting in 2017 and have competed at both national and international levels, securing multiple records along the way. Alongside this, I’ve also competed in combat sports - often concurrently which has given me first-hand experience managing training demands across multiple disciplines.
That experience has shaped how I coach. Exposure to high training loads, weight cuts, injuries, and performance pressure across different sports highlights the importance of intelligent programming, adaptability, and long-term thinking. It also sparked a strong interest in rehabilitation and injury management, particularly in sports that place significant demands on the human body.
I’ve been coaching strength athletes for over six years and am currently completing my Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science, with the intention of pursuing Physiotherapy. I strongly believe that ongoing learning is a duty of care - if you’re responsible for someone’s physical development, you owe it to them to continually refine your understanding and decision-making.
I place a strong emphasis on communication, goal-setting, and motivation, drawing on principles from my formal education in Psychology to better understand how athletes think, respond to stress, and stay engaged throughout the training process. I value honesty and thoughtful decision-making in coaching. When challenges arise, I prioritise understanding the problem, seeking better information, and collaborating where needed, so athletes are always supported with care and clarity.
Beyond coaching, I’ve handled athletes at the international level, officiated as a local referee, and previously co-owned and managed a powerlifting gym. That experience has given me a full-spectrum view of the sport, allowing me to support athletes not just in training, but through the realities of competition itself.
At SUMMIT SYSTEMS, my goal is simple: to provide thoughtful, high-quality coaching that helps athletes progress with confidence, clarity, and care.
